Nursing Programs

Below is a list of nursing programs that have graduated a student with a disability or who have a student currently enrolled in their program. This list is provided in response to questions from prospective students, nursing educators and disability services staff.

    Please note the following cautions:
  1. This list is by no means comprehensive. It was compiled from web site visitors and other sources.
  2. Some nurses may have graduated many years ago. The faculty, program and services offered may have changed dramatically.
  3. Every student's educational experience is different. One student may have felt a program was supportive and met all of their accommodation requests, and another may have a vastly different experience. For some, a previously graduated nursing student with a disability may help pave the way; for others, it may make no difference in their experience.
  4. This list does not represent an endorsement of the program nor a guarantee of acceptance or that accommodations will be made.

ExceptionalNurse.com recommends that you contact schools in which you are interested based on factors such as quality of program, location, accessibility, reputation, degree granted (BSN, AD), duration, financial aid, and transportation. Schedule a meeting with the Dean or Director or the Disability Office to discuss your needs related to your disability. Apply to the school that feels best to you irrespective of whether they have accepted a previous nursing student with a disability. Ask yourself, "Is this a good fit?".
